Hi All,

I was moving a VM from one vApp to other though vCloud director Web UI. Its observed in vCenter a clone of the VM created and the source VM got deleted after the clone got registered as the VM.

In short the following are the corresponding steps in vCenter for moving a VM from one vApp to other in vCloud.

1. Clone the VM.

2. Register and reconfgure the VM.

3. Delete the source VM.

4. In vCloud we can see the VM is moved to the new vApp.

the following are the problems of this approach.

1. The storage policy (datastores) should have enough free space to accommodate the clone.

2. Overall process will slow due to the cloning.

Is there an option to avoid this background cloning to speed up Move VM ?
