I need low level details on vRealize Operations Manager 6.x data collection via the vCenter Adapter

Please point me to deep dive, technical resources that provide details on the data that vRealize Operations Manager 6.x collects from vCenter Server via the vCenter Adapter.

Here is one scenario for which I am trying to fully learn the technical details:

Guest File System stats  (such as Total Guest File System Capacity and Total Guest File System Usage) metrics for virtual machines DO appear in vRealize Operations Manger 6.x, but hese do NOT appear anywhere in the performance graphs (vSphere Client or vSphere Web Client) or ESXTOP (on an ESXi host).      I assume that vCenter Server simply sends all of its stored metrics to vRealize Operations, but how exactly is data such as guest files system stats being tracked and provided?  Are other stats that are not normally visible in performance graphs and ESXTOP also sent to vRealize Operations?   The real question I have is, exactly what data does vCenter Server provide to vRealize Operations Manager and how does vCenter collect and store this data between each transmission?

Please do not confuse this with the VMDK  file sizes or the difference in Provisioned Space vs Used Space when it comes to thin provisioned virtual disks.  I am stating that for Windows VMs, the size of each logical disk (C:, E:, F:) and the actual used space according to Windows is visible in vRealize Operations Manger.  Likewise the size and used space of linux based partitions are visible.

I assume vCenter Server collects the guest file system usage data from each VM via VMware Tools.  In fact in my tests, when a VM is down or VMware Tools is not running, these values are Zero.  Once VMware Tools has been running in a VM for a few minutes, the actual guest files system usage populates in vRealize Operations Manger.   But, when exactly did vCenter Servers start collecting this data?  Did it always collect this data from VM guest OS's, but never showed it to us in the performance graphs?  Or did it start collecting such data whenever it registered with vRealize Operations?

thanks
