Hello,
we want to import some really big VMs (some > 2 TB) into vCloud Director. The downtime during the import has to be as short as possible. The VM is already running in the vSphere Cluster that backs the provider VDC. It resides on the same storage array that vCloud Director uses, even in the same datastore cluster.
If we import the VM from vSphere with vCloud director, it moves or copies the powered off vm to its final location. Will that operation be accelerated by the storage system ? The storage array supports HardwareAcceleratedMove. My hope is that relocating the files will be faster than with a native copy. I am not talking about a linked clone here.
Any thoughts ?
Best regards
Carsten
